I have found my new love for Fridays so now I have to switch my photos to Sunday. It doesn't flow like Friday Photo Freebies...I'll have to think of a better name.

Can you guess what my theme is today?

We talk about chickens a lot in my classroom. There are at least two students who have them.

I have been thinking about how to store all of these. 

One idea I had was to print them out, glue them on cardstock and laminate them. 

I could put them into categories and place one of those rings on them so the students could flip through.

Or I thought of putting them in an old recipe box.

Do you have any ideas?

Hello all!

Since we are suppose to read and write about so much non-fiction and informational topics. i thought I would post some photos that could help you out. Think of the All-About Books, How-To Books, "Are, Can, Have Books" your students could write about with a little inspiration. 

Next week we begin our Informational Books. I am going to put these photos up on the SmartBoard for those kiddos who need a little help thinking of something to write about.

I am off to a Science Workshop tomorrow at Colgate University. I can't wait!

I actually made it on a Friday. One of my goals this year is to have my posts ready a week in advance. I haven't done that once and it's almost the middle of January. The good news is, I have a lot of time to practice.

We have been working so hard on our How-To Books we haven't been able to do many prompts. This is one of my New Year's Resolutions.

Photo Freebies Friday on Saturday

It is a crazy time of the year for everyone! Concerts, parties, tree lighting ceremonies, etc. etc. etc.

Don't get me wrong, I love this time of the year. It's not being home all the time...and I am a homebody!

Here are some holiday photos for you. 

I can't wait to use them this week for writing prompts.

I put the photos up on my SmartBoard. We discuss what we could write and then I send them off to write their own piece. 

They have come up with some interesting stories. 

When they finish next week, I will share some of their stories.

Here are some more photos for your non-fiction/realistic fiction writing. 

I have been using them as story-starters for our new Writing Unit. 

I put them up on the SmartBoard and we discuss (whole-class, turn and talk to elbow partners, and if needed individual conferences) what we could write from these pictures.

By the end of next week, I should be able to share some of our writing.
