Brain Breaks and GoNoodle Go Together Like Peanut Butter and Jelly

Who uses Brainbreaks or Energizers in their classroom? I can't imagine not having them in my first grade classroom.
My kiddos need them.

Sometimes I NEED them!

We use some activities from our Morning Meeting routine, but most of the time, we are using GoNoodle.

We also use it during inside recess. All of my firsties don't use it at this time, but it has been wonderful for those who have been using it.
We have monitors for our recess time. I have set up the SmartBoard so it is ready when they begin their indoor recess.

It gets them refocused and ready for our next task.

Some of our favorites are "Peanut Butter in a Cup", "Milkshake", and basically anything on Zumba Kids.

See how much Koo Koo Kangaroo inspires us!!!

Did you know they have their own FB page!!! Yep!!! I'm a stalker, I mean fan! :)

"When presented with new material, standards, and complicated topics, we need to be focused and calm as we approach our assignments. We can use brain breaks and focused-attention practices to positively impact our emotional states and learning. They refocus our neural circuitry with either stimulating or quieting practices that generate increased activity in the prefrontal cortex, where problem solving and emotional regulation occur."

Read this article from Edutopia. It has some simple ideas for Brain Breaks and why it is important.

What do you use for Brain Breaks? Share your favorite!
