Our School Garden

We started a school garden last year.
We didn't get the help over the summer that we needed to maintain it so...
This is what happened this spring.
UGH!!!

Tall enough to play Hide-n-Seek!!!

We had a family donate three hours on a 90*, Sunday afternoon.
Not only did they donate their time, but it was their weed whacker and rototiller.

So generous!!!

We are beginning to plant Friday morning.
I will keep you posted.

We have the families sign up for one week during the summer. They have to weed and make sure it is watered. They can also harvest anything they want. We do have a three legged deer that has been here for years. I am sure we will be feeding her too!
I can't wait to make some things for the kids in the fall.

So, I will probably be creating more "farm" and "veggies and fruit"etc. products in the next couple months. We are so excited to see what happens!

Have a wonderful day!!!

  2. That is a wonderful idea! Glad someone is looking out for the poor deer :) My school has (had) a nature trail but I don't think it's been maintained in a while...

  4. That sounds like such a fun project! I like how everyone is going to take turns during the summer taking care of it!

  5. I would LOVE to have a garden at our school. Our "outside" is all flat and treeless, so right now, our PTA is working on fundraising to just get us a shade structure...but how fun would a garden or nature area be! Thanks for sharing!
