That's Yardley. He's always smiling. He was trained to be a companion dog. He got to the intense training and became too protective so we got him back. We love him so much!
This is Rosie. She LOVES to run and play. She "herds" the chickens. She was rescued from Kentucky. When we got her she was almost 5 weeks, about 5 pounds, and covered and filled with everything you can imagine. Since she can run 10 miles with me and then want to play fetch tells you that she turned out just fine.
They both have taught me that you have to have fun, you have to be loyal, and it doesn't matter how many times you try something, keep trying.

My Freebie is a fun dice game that we play constantly in our classroom. It gets them writing and using their math skills at the same time. This one is for number words.

How cute are they?!?!?!?!?
Have a wonderful day!
Your dogs make me want one desperately. I just don't think I'm home enough to be kind to a dog. I used to raise labs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Is that what you did with yours?

We did something similar to that. Yardley would have been a companion dog to someone in a wheelchair. He worked so hard! It was difficult to bring him in for intense training but it was harder to get the call that he failed. :( We are thinking about doing it again soon.

I saw Yardley's photo on the Linky Party page and just had to click. He looks just like the lab I had growing up :). On a mildly related note, I really like your blog . . . thanks for sharing your ideas!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your dogs. They're beautiful! Isn't it great having a doggie running companion? Max and I did 18k yesterday and he was still playing with his golden retriever friend at the end of it!

Wow, you are really getting those miles (or kilometers :) up there! My favorite runs have been with Rosie.
DeleteHi Beth Ann! Your Yardley really pulled at my heart strings. We had a yellow lab named Cady that we had to put down when she was 14. (on my son's 13th birthday). Oh my gosh we were sooo broken hearted. Cried and cried for months. After a year we got a new puppy who is now 6 years old. I joined the linky party and posted about her on my blog . . .she. is. so. spoiled.
