And after...

This is so much more attractive!

Can anyone help me so I can give credit to the creative teacher who made these?

I put velcro on the back of the labels and on the book bins. It is going to be sooooo easy to switch book bins.

Before and.......

These are the before pictures of my book bins. I can't wait to put on the labels.

When I post the after picture....Can you help me out?

I have been searching for the wonderful teacher who shared them. I cannot find them anywhere. If you know who this is, can you please help me give him/her credit.

They are organized, but they look a little messy still. My girls helped put the home-made tags on for the first day of school. At least they were labeled.

I will take the after pictures today when I get all the labels on. I know it will look so much more appeasing.

Pretzel Letters

What a fun activity!

The students ate their way through their names. They made the letters of their names with pretzels.

We had such a good time!

I usually have them make the entire alphabet. This was very frustrating for a lot of the students (and teachers). Some of the letters are very hard to make. A colleague of mine was doing the same activity and shared that she had them make their names. How silly of my not to think of this.

They had so much fun! I love this! I am going to make up a new sheet to go with it. The one I have is not very good. Let's see what I can come up with.

So much going on...so little time to blog.
I am hoping to have more time since I have the first week under my belt. My class is wonderful. I have two AMAZING teacher's aides in my classroom. I don't know what I would do without them.
My students are working hard to get into routines, learning the rules, and making new friends. They are doing such a great job.
I made up a calendar binder with the help of some other blogs. I will post in later in the week when I have everyone's information so I can credit everyone. It has worked so well. All the students are engaged the entire time.
I have dove into Daily 5. I have so many of you to thank for great resources. You are really helping me out. We had four minutes of Read to Self on Friday. I was so proud of them!
Here are just some of you who have helped me out so much with Daily 5:

The Two Sisters (of course)

These are just a couple of the resources I have found. I will post back and tell you how things are going.

First Day of School Jitters

You would think that I would be an old pro at this by now. I think I get more nervous than some of my students. Oh YES! I am nervous about the first day of school. Am I ready? (It never matters, the students still come anyway.) What will the class dynamics be like? How will I work with my new TAs?

I think my classroom is ready. I will go in one more time this weekend to make sure everything is set.

If you have started school already, I hope you are having fun! I would love to hear about the first day back.
