Freebie

I posted my newest freebie in my TPT store.

It's a making words mini-unit. Borrowing one of the make-believe animals from If I Ran the Zoo, students can use the letters to make words. After they have made all the "real" words they can. Have them invent a new animal. They can illustrate it and write about it.

What a week!

We had our mid-winter break last week.
I planned on finishing up a few units, Posting>Posting>Posting, catching up on blogs, and cleaning my house. Well, none of that got done. I went to visit my mom, dad, and grandma with the kids in the beginning of the week and came back to pack for my brother-in-law's wedding.

We drove 8 hours to get there. It was beautiful. It was in a ski lodge, half-way up the hill. It was just perfect for them (they met on this very hill). Did I mention that I was the photographer? Holy Cow what a responsibility!
Anyway, needless to say, I was more busy this week than anticipated. So, now I have to catch up with everyone and get my act together on those units. Oh, and I have to go back to work today! :)
I am excited to go back to school. This is my favorite time of the year. Spring Jitters, excitement everyday about the weather, MUD...Well, some of it is my favorite!
I am so psyched to do some of the activities this week from all of you. I will post as I go along.

These are some of the blogs I got some AMAZING activities to do this week.

On the Farm: Math and the Common Core

I just posted my new Math Unit on TPT.

It has all these Common Core Standards in the activities:
Math
Common Core Standards
1.OA.1. Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.1
1.OA.2. Solve word problems that call for addition of three whole numbers whose sum is less than or equal to 20, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
1.OA.3. Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract.2 Examples: If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2 + 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property of addition.)
1.NBT.1. Count to 120, starting at any number less than 120. In this range, read and write numerals and represent a number of objects with a written numeral.
1.NBT.2. Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones.
1.MD.3. Tell and write time in hours and half-hours using analog and digital clocks.

WOW!
I had so much fun working on it!

How'd you meet your hunny?

Buzzing with Ms. B Button

I am linking up with Chrissy, at Buzzing with Ms. B., for "How'd you meet your hunny?"
So cute!

Here goes:

We actually were in the same kindergarten class. I was in love with another boy at the time. :) We went to different elementary schools after that. We met back up in Marching Band Camp...I know! I know!
We dated a little in 10th grade and then I broke up with him when we came back after the summer. I had gotten my braces off and he DID NOT notice!
So... I did what any good ex-girlfriend would do... I got him together with one of my best friends. (They dated for over 4 years!) The joke is, we would get together with his girlfriend and whoever I was dating at the time. (He thinks it was way too many boys!)
We graduated, went to college, and found each other at the same college swim meet. We got to talk for a little bit, then my coach yelled at me to get up on the blocks. :) It was my event.
We said our goodbyes and went back to our colleges. When he got back, he told his roommate that he was going to marry me! :)
We talked a little on the phone that semester then we started lifeguarding together that summer. We've been together ever since.

Here we are this past summer at a Phish concert.
I was thinking about how long I have known him the other day. 27 years. WOW! That's a long time! That's not even counting from kindergarten! We will be married for 18 years this October. Three kids, two dogs, two cats, and nine chickens later...

I wouldn't change a thing!

Have a wonderful day!

TALENT SHOW

Our school had a talent show last night. It was so cute.
Piano playing, hua hooping, magic tricks, singing, skits, and more!
It's a nice way for the little ones to get up there and show everyone what they've got!
I am always amazed at the talent that is shown.

Aren't they CUTE?
